In 2012 Turkish Airlines linked up with internationally renowned, artist Craig Redman to create the airline’s new campaign ‘Passenger Portraits’. Redman produced abstract portraits of five Manchester United players and I implemented these and the ‘Passenger Portraits’ identity across all Manchester United platforms, in line with the campaign launch. The goal; to further promote the Turkish Airlines sponsorship in a fresh and noticeable way.
To reach an international audience we developed designs for use across outdoor, print media and web applications. Giant adhesive vinyl versions of the iconic faces were installed on the windows of Old Trafford, 24 colourful panels along the East-stand railings were put in place, a four page print advertorial for United Review, the matchday programme, was created and animated web banners featured on manutd.com - displaying each of the faces in sequence.

Recognising it was important that fans were excited by the portraits and the Turkish Airlines identity, five limited edition souvenir postcards were designed for fans to collect before the Turkish Airlines sponsored game, whilst five of the railing panels were replaced with black and white outlined versions for visitors to colour in themselves. Developing these two activations enabled fans to engage with the brand on a much more personal level, in a ‘fresh and noticeable way’.
